Red Mango!

When it comes to yoghurt, there is only one store that comes to my mind. And that is--Red Mango!

Red Mango was established in South Korea in 2002 and opened few years back here at the Philippines. It became a national craze when Red Mango opened it’s first store here in the Philippines at SM Megamall. People wait in lines just to get and taste this well-known yoghurt store in Korea and even in New York.

Last Wednesday, my sisters and I got a chance to eat my favorite yoghurt once again. Let me share it to you guys what we had.

Mine: Original yogurt with Dezato mochi balls and Cheesecake

My sister's: Original yogurt with Chocolate chips and Dezato Mochi balls

My other sister's: Original yogurt with Almonds

I never get tired of eating it again and again. If ever Red Mango is the only dessert store in the world, I can live with it! I swear!

Till next time, Red Mango! I shall see you again! :)

Dianne's Surprise! :)

As you may know yesterday was my birthday. When I woke up yesterday, I did my daily routine before going to school. I took a shower, folded my blanket and look for a clothes to wear. When I can’t decide what to wear to look “sosyal” for our project anymore, I went to my sister’s room to ask for advice. Surprisingly, as I returned to my room, I saw Dianne Uy! I was surprised and coudn’t believe that I’m seeing her right infront of my eyes at an early time of the day and infact that she was at my bedroom! She surprised me with a Conti’s cake and a pasta she made! I was overwhelmed and deeply deeply touched! She even gave me a gift from Hong Kong! I can’t ask for more! She really made my day! I love love love her so much!

Dianne Uy or “Didi” is my bestfriend, my co-surname, my closest of the closest friend and my back to back (B2B)! You may ask why back to back right? Let me tell you this story back when we were 2nd year high school, we played a game called the boat is sinking. The game is about grouping yourselves to a certain number of included people that the host ask for. Back to my story, we were asked to group ourselves in a certain number and three of us were left hanging searching for an available slot. One group was asking for one more person. Suddenly, the 3rd person that was left was fast running towards the asking group. Dianne and I were left and lost the game. That’s the story why we called each other back to back because we never leaved each other’s back! I’ve known Dianne since grade 3, we were friends back then but I never imagined that we would be this close now! No one can set as apart and we’re always here for each other. She never leave me or leave me hanging alone. I love her very very much! Words can’t define my love for her, that’s how big it is!

Dianne's surprise!

I can feel the pressure! :(

Since finals week is fast approaching, I can already feel the pressure and the loads of work that are fast piling up! Indeed, I now believe with the saying "sa huli ang pagsisi". Ohmymy! :'( I just pray to God from now on i'll be 10 times more hard working and 10 times more patient to finish all the task I need to accomplish. Lord, please help me! :(

Who have not heard about the great Petron Blaze Boosters?

Let me tell you all about them.

Petron Blaze Booster is a team at the PBA who was recently qualified in the Final 4 of the latest season finals of the Philippine Basketball Association.

Never ever in my life have I imagined getting to meet a basketball player, or players in this case, face to face! Thanks to Megan Banes, my blockmate, that I got a chance to meet them and even watch their game VIP-style! Below are some of the awesome pictures we had with some of the players of Petron Blaze Boosters.

All about dancing for the night!

This term, I had dance class as my PE. I must admit, I myself am not a dancer but I would really like to learn given a chance. So I grabbed this opportunity and gave it a go.

Unlike everyone else, dance class is a new thing for a student like me coming from a conservative high school. My other classmates had dance as their PE way back then. They even had prom, dance parties and graduation balls for their high school senior year.

Just this March 24, the College of Business, together with the College of Science, held an event called Culminating Night. The event was held at the Enrique Razon Building. The purpose of this event was to showcase the different types of dances the PE students practiced throughout the term. The whole program was composed of students dancing their respective dances. There was samba, tango, Hawaiian dance, folk dance and a lot more. In the end, the whole event was a success! It was fun and worth all the practice and time. I wish we can do it all over again.

We're the five best friends (and dancers) anyone can have! (From upper left to right: Caroline, Jho, Monica, moi and Erika)
In the car on our way to Culminating Night.

Meet up with Ton-ton!

Last March 22, I met up with Toni, my best friend since 2nd year high school. Ever since college, we seldom talk and don’t have much chances to meet up because of conflicting class schedules.

Toni is like a sister to me. She's someone I can run to whenever I need help and support. She is honest and tells me the truth especially when I’m doing things that are not right and not pleasing. She’s always there to cheer me up whenever I’m sad and in trouble.

Meeting her for the first time this month was like not seeing each other for years! We have so many things to share and stuffs to talk about. I really miss her like hell!

Even though we seldom talk and hang out already, I'm certain that neither one of us will ever replace the comforting and honest friendship we both have.

I love this girl so much :*

Mamou on my mind.

I'm currently writing this blog outside my room and odd as it may seem, I think I'm imagining steaks with clouds over me! Guess I'm not yet done with the really good time I had eating at Mamou in Powerplant Mall.

Mamou is the eponymous restaurant of Malou Fores and it is said to be the extended version of her own dining room, filled with dishes she has cooked for her own family.

We started our meal with this five-floured bread basket served with butter on the side. Sadly, the bread was a bit tough and already cold.

For our starter, we had this really good romaine lettuce salad. And the dressing: vinaigrette. It was unexpectedly yummy!

Next thing we had was their bestselling Truffle Pasta. It was creamy, very flavorful, and really tasty!

For the best part and my favorite dish of all--their version of Angus Rib Eye Steak! Just hearing the name makes me drool all over again!

The steak was well cooked. It was juicy, soft, and a bit chewy. My perfect steak!

As for our drinks, we had their iced tea and their famous dalandan mint shake. Their iced tea was nothing special but the dalandan mint shake was superb! Well that is for me, maybe because I’m a fan of mint.

Without a doubt, I’ll surely go back to Mamou anytime any day! Definitely can’t wait for my next visit!

Talents' Night Contest :)

Last November 26, 2011, we engaged in a talents’ night contest at Fiamma with our fellow College of Business students. Our whole block had no choice but to participate primarily because the Interdisciplinary Business Studies (IBS) course has only one block and a half. We were also the only class who constitutes mainly IBS students while the other block has mixed courses.

The block decided to do a dance number since our block has Thea Madrideo, a seasoned dancer, to teach and guide us throughout the preparations. We practiced for only a week thus we did it almost everyday. It was exhausting, really stressful, and the pressure was definitely felt.

Here is a video of our last practice before the big day at Enriquez Building, DLSU. One of our fellow contestants and a potential competitor was even practicing behind us. How awkward!

Out of the seven participants that night, we won first place! All the hard work and exhaustion was all worth it! With this contest now behind us, without a doubt, we experienced a lot of great things. From the lessons we learned to the memories and bonding we will surely treasure. Truly, with hard work comes great results. And I’m sure, we’d love to do this again. Maybe, far next time.

Here we (Block20) are enjoying the fame for just a few seconds. :)

I miss experiencing new things.

I miss my first term at De La Salle University where everything was new. I miss meeting new people, having new circle of friends and getting a chance to be a better version of who I used to be. I even miss exploring the facilities of my new school, excited to see what's in store, discovering new rules and how classes work, and getting surprised with how things are.

I even remember during our first LPEP days that almost everyone of us were acting awkward and no one bothered speaking at all. But look at how things are now. The people I just met less than a year ago are now some of my closest dearest friends. All together, we experienced the new things in our college life. We were there for each other when we were all self-conscious, hesitant, and more naive.

I didn't even realize that my freshmen year is soon over. How fast time flies. Strangely, I will no longer be called "frosh" and will not even be "bida" anymore! Ha ha ha!

Time is indeed gold and good times are all the more of such. We should treasure as much the special and learning moments of our lives, spend every second of our time productively and wisely for life is just so fleeting and unpredictably short. If we all can,

Enjoy Life To The Fullest!

This is Block 20 and I surely would want to meet them all over again.
Back when we were all strangers.

Beliefs I believe in!

Last second term, we encountered a subject called PERSEF in which the students learn things about manners and personal effectiveness. One time, we were asked about what values and beliefs do we believe in when it comes to friends and attitudes toward people.

I believe in the values that my parents has thought me and I believe what i read in the bible is true. I believe that we, the younger ones, should respect the elderly. I also believe that I have the freedom of choice but I should know what is right from wrong. I believe that my belief for the Bible and God is powerful and true. For the Bible taught me the 10 commandments in which I believe in. Having this beliefs makes me a better person who is open to challenges, who can handle responsibilities and manage things properly--a lady who’s more knowledgeable of what she’s doing and where she’s trying to go.

As a friend I believe loyalty is the essence of true friendship, sticking up to your friends in times of troubles, and helping them with the best of your ability. I believe that choices of right and wrong are part of friendships; one should follow the shadow of friends only in the right and never in the wrong, this I truly believe. I believe that the unwritten fundamental rules of true friendship are to be maintained, which is to be pillars of strength for each other when faced with adversary, to be the light in the darkness when one is lost, to be cheerleaders to the other when one is down, and most importantly, to be a stellar example of a true and righteous person. This is what I stand for, this is how I believe friendship should be.

As a daughter I will try my best to fulfill my role in the family especially towards my parents. As their daughter, I will not neglect them in the future, I will treat them and care them like they did for me ever since the existence of my life. However, now that I’m still young I will make them proud of the accomplishments that I can make. Especially, since I’m the youngest of the family, I will be their baby forever.

As a student and member of the Lasallian Community, I will follow the rules and regulations of my school, study for the betterment of my future, respect the wonderful educators, staff, and fellow students that passes my way, accept the challenges that may come, persevere with my dreams, and last but definitely not the least, do what is righteously right in the omniscient eyes of my Creator. I believe that me, being a student and a child of God, are inter-related, for my daily life with the prestige of an undergrad, is a life centering the Lord, with honesty, loyalty, courage, determination, and faith in everything that I am asked and expected to do.

Varekai of Cirque Du Soleil

The very famous Cirque Du Soleil featuring the Varekai comes to manila and I'm one of the lucky people who got to watch it.

It was a gloomy Sunday. Few hours before the show, the weather seems to be uncooperative. My sister seems to be troubled thinking that the rain might get worst. Luckily, it stopped raining and we hurriedly drove to the venue. The parking lot was not full, considering that there will be a show. The Grand Chapiteau Tent was very visible from a far. Standing in the middle of Quirino Grandstand, the tent’s strikingly unique blue and yellow stripes are just impossible to miss. One by one we pass the first part of the entrance. I’m already seeing the tent’s entrance. When I got in, it was just another part of the tent where the guest can eat, shop and even have their pictures taken from the show’s photo booth. There were different groups of people around me of which are mostly families. I saw a few batches of dating couples and quite a number of groups of friends. Since it was still early, I was able to check out what is there to see. There were screens inside featuring the Varekai casts. I headed to the Varekai merchandises. They were selling shirts with the famous Varekai characters printed on it. I opted to spend my cash on food. I check what they have in the snack bar. People were lining up to get their munchies before the show starts. They were selling buckets of popcorns with different flavors, sodas in can, bottled water, bottled juices and hotdogs on bun/stick. As soon as we got our orders, we headed to the main tent.

Twenty minutes before the clock strikes 5 o’clock, the stage doors were announced opened. We climbed several steps of the metal stairs to enter the stage tent. It was easy to find our seats since everything was so organized. When I first walked in, I couldn’t believe that this huge space would actually fit in a man-made tent! The tent was fully air-conditioned and was well ventilated. The inside was well lighted. It was still a bit bright though, sort of similar to watching a concert in Araneta. As I sat comfortably on my assigned seat waiting for the show to start, a beam of spotlight was focusing on a man and a woman wearing a red coat just across the room entertaining and making fun of the audience. People around me started to look at them and laugh. Suddenly, the tent was fast filling up. The rain could have caused the delay. As the tick of the clock strikes 5, several people, dressed in all sorts of silly but nevertheless, equally wonderful costumes came out. And as part of their performance, they wandered around the stage and performed harmless tricks. I can’t help but look around at all the people watching. There were some serious looking men, some sweet couples, and at the corner of my vision, I can’t help but notice, a boy about the age of 6 walking towards his seat looking quite terrified of the performers that he didn’t even want to move and just stared at them while holding his father’s hand. The kid sitting behind me seems to also be scared of the appearing act. The boy kept crying and telling his mom that he was scared and wanted to go home. People inside the theater kept expressing their imagination until the light dimmed and live music was playing. Suddenly a white light appeared above the stage and a feather with Icarus, the lead, who was wrapped in a net, was slowly falling from the stage above. He performed the Aerial contortion while hanging from the net. He was very graceful in every movement that he does. This lasted for about twenty minutes and the second performance followed. The foot-joggling came next. They were joggling people while doing their acrobatic stunts. Then the three young acrobats twirl their ropes with metal cups attached to the ends. I have a feeling that these boys are from china. They look Chinese. I’m quite familiar with their stunts and that the Chinese acrobats are pretty good at it. There was a 25 minutes intermission. People started to chat and got up from their seats to go buy more snacks or visit the comfort rooms. I overheard the boys behind me, excitedly blurting out: “Pare, Pare!! Azkals 4-0! Leading daw ang azkals!! Bokya ang Sri lanka!” They were talking and updating their companions on the on-going soccer game lead by the Philippine team over the Sri Lankans. Authorized food vendors were going around selling popcorns and some drinks. The light and sounds started to change as the 25minutes break is about to end. People were back at their seats with their eager faces, excited on what will be the next performance. Came sliding down, was the trapeze with four young women performing a series of striking moves. Underneath them were two big men, standing on alert just in case something goes wrong. People were amazed when a handicapped performer in crutches danced to the sounds with his feather-like weight. Then came the lady performer with wrist strap on a metal hoop that suspends on air while she glides above the stage without any harness. I was astonished by the next performance. A quite petite woman with moves so graceful was balancing and doing contortions on canes that were affix on the stage. But the most highly praised act of the show was the finale. Men were being tossed up in the air. Somersaults were executed while trying to land on a swinging machine. Then multiple somersaults followed while still landing on the same moving machine. It was a terrifying and heart-stopping moment for most of the audiences including me. The screams filled the tent and the applauses were endless. Sadly, the show has come to an end. The performers were credited with a standing ovation plus wild cheers from a satisfied audience. As we headed out, I looked closely at people’s reaction, some were pretty hyped up, some were still in amazement, and some can’t seem to stop talking about it while some others seems to be itching their way out of the tent.

Based on my observation, Varekai and the story that’s behind it, was not really expressed to be understood by its watchers. One ends up focusing too much on the acrobatic stunts and the wonders of the performers that one tends to forget about the story behind. But in addition to that, I can see the perfection and the love of the performers to what they are doing. They are the masters of their talents. Overall, it was a good show and a must see. It’s not every time that the famous “Cirque du Soleil” visits and performs in manila.

Here's a glimpse of Varekai of Cirque Du Soleil, hope you enjoy! :)
